If the only problem at the weekend is finding decent playgrounds in Palma, the city definitely offers a good selection. Our three favourite ones are Parc de la Mar just in front of the cathedral, Parc de Sa Feixina next to Paseo Mallorca and Parc de Bellver.
1. Adventure playground at Parc de Bellver
One of the most exciting playgrounds in Palma, or even whole Mallorca…
The coolest of all playgrounds in Palma is located in Parc de Bellver (see location). Surrounded by nature and away from the busy city centre this is the right place to breathe fresh air and play in a calm atmosphere. The whole playground has been entirely renewed and all the play structures are in an excellent condition. Its two levels are connected by several slides integrated into the natural hill. The lower level is mainly for climbing and swinging whereas the upper level offers a really nice play house, a sand playing area and a nest swing. The ropeway is an absolute highlight. Unfortunately, there is no possibility to go to the toilet anywhere near the playground.
Parking is a bit difficult. It is best to come by foot since the surrounding streets are too narrow to park in. There is only one small public parking (here) which is mostly completed. Try to find a parking in the wide neighbourhood or just use the underground parking here and walk up the hill (10 mins approx.). Connect the playground visit with some sightseeing at Castel Bellver approx. 15 mins up the hill. You can go there with the pram, but it’s definitely easier without.
2. City atmosphere at the playground in Parc de Sa Feixina
Our all time favourite for the weekends is Parc de Sa Feixina (see location). There are play structures for kids of every age group. Swings for the little and the older ones, small and large slides, seesaws and climbing frames. A real plus: There’s a café next to the playground, Café Poupette, so you can get a coffee or a snack there. Also Santa Catalina with its nice cafes and restaurants is not far. In case you would like to combine playground and shopping there are a lot of boutiques and shops close-by.
When visiting Parc de Sa Feixina in Palma the best is to park in Santa Catalina (Monday to Friday 2 hrs max, free from 14:30-16:30, Saturday free from 14:30, Sunday free) or in the underground parking of Paseo Mallorca here.
3. Parc de la Mar – Playground with sea views
The last one of our top 3 playgrounds in Palma: Parc de la Mar (see location). If you have been in Palma already you might have seen the park area and the playground just next to the cathedral. There are long slides, several climbing structures and play houses for kids of every age group. The large green area is ideal to sit and play on or to have a picnic.
A minus point is that there is no toilet near the playground. Parc de la Mar is not recommendable during hot summer days since there is no shadow and the playground is completely exposed to the sun. Parking is best in the underground parking in front of the cathedral (see location) or on the parking towards the harbour here.
