A love letter to Mallorca

Love letter to Mallorca

Dear Mallorca,

The year is coming to an end and I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation for all that you are. I have to admit, I wasn’t always aware of what you had to offer. Before I moved here, I couldn’t imagine living in Mallorca and it took me some time to fall in love with you. Now I can’t imagine a better place for me and my family.

Mallorca, you’ve surprised me.

You are so much more than just a destination. You are a multifaceted gem that proves to be special in every kind of way. Your natural beauty is nothing but breath-taking. It has the capability to ground me in a very special way. The infinity of the sea which I am fortunate to see every morning, calms me and carries me away. Your beaches are so beautiful all year round. It gives me great pleasure to see the children playing in the sand. I love to just dive into the sea and listen to the stillness of the water. And I can’t believe it took me seven years to go surfing!

The rugged nature of your mountains and cliffs is impressive and there’s a certain tranquillity in your hills that I haven’t found elsewhere. Your wide landscapes nurture me and I am beyond grateful for that. I should definitely spend more time in nature in the coming year.

Mallorca, the richness of your history is evident in every stone, offering a glimpse into the past that has shaped your identity. Your traditions are fascinating and I keep getting to know you from different sides. I love seeing my children grow up with this wealth of traditions and festivities that have long been part of their everyday lives. The way people come together to celebrate is truly special and certainly not easy to find anywhere else.

Mallorca, you nurture me.

Your culinary offerings are a delight. The flavours of your local produce are unique. Rich olive oil, perfect almonds, sweet figs and shining yellow lemons are just a few of the many products your wonderful agriculture has to offer. The authenticity of your cuisine is capable of turning every meal into a memorable experience. From local markets to good coffee and excellent tapas, your food culture is diverse and satisfying.

There’s a certain charm in the way life unfolds here. The warmth of your climate and the brightness of your sun lightens me up every day, all year round. It gives me the strength and energy to manage challenges and go through not so easy times. The welcoming nature of your residents and the honest hospitality and warmth that I receive make me feel at home, no matter what. The relaxed atmosphere that characterises you is calming and allows me to enjoy the moment. Enjoy Life.

Thank you for being my home.
Love,
